Six years ago this husband and I…

Went on a quest…traveled to Brady…a small town in Texas…home of little him…home of the Piggly Wiggly…home of Mrs. Carmichael…

Those memories shared so many times…Mrs. Carmichael memories…little him no older than 4…the circus…Piggy Wiggly…feeling loved by the woman with the kind heart…

Curious me wanted to know her story…the mysteries of Mrs. Carmichael…husband…kids…age…etc…he just wanted to find a picture of her…something tangible to remember her by…

Went to the library…read through microfiche…found an obituary…graduated from North Texas State…educator…one son…member of First Christian Church…

Located one photo in an old church directory…not the Mrs. Carmichael he remembered…much older…more prim…more proper…so kept searching…

Family connections…college archives…online town chats…went down rabbit hole after rabbit hole…but found no photo of younger…vibrant…Cassie M…

And so it is…the heart strings tugging once again…have one more place to look…the Brady Museum housed in the former jail…may just have a photo of the owners of the popular Piggly Wiggly…

Always closed when we visit…but this year we’ll make a plan…call ahead…make it happen…because when it’s time…it’s time…
