This old gal…
Was recently told she was special…unique…almost one of a kind (for her age group)…would normally be flattered but not when the comment is coming from that eye doctor of hers… Went in for the six month follow up…check on those eye pressure numbers that were high in the fall…perhaps a precursor to glaucoma… And heard this instead…the unique, special, rare thing for old gals this age—is something called second sight… Knew something had changed…suddenly the glasses didn’t work…could see better without them and they were only a few months old… Enter second sight, a brief—emphasis on brief—period of time when the sight changes, reverses, becomes clearer…which then is followed by the onset of cataracts… Usually happens to people twenty years older…may have been triggered by the intense Texas sun (not sure if he was joking about this or not)…lasts anywhere from three months to two years… And so it is…in life…the future is unknown…we shall see what we shall see…or perhaps we won’t see what we want to see…guess we’ll just have to wait and see… And that husband of mine…agrees…
