There Is No Better Gift Than A Dear Friend

Found a magic lamp…and had some wishes to make…she would wish…for the impossible…a way for those daughters of hers…to live their exciting lives…in their wonderful communities…yet still all live near enough to each other…and their mama…

To be able to drop by and chat…accidentally bump into each other at the grocery store…attend each other’s activities…so this mama of theirs…could be there…to bring supplies if one was sick…pet sit…give a hug…when one was needed…but since that magic lamp has been elusive…this old mama…will settle for a proxy…

Ten years ago…little Ginger chose a mentor…for confirmation…this woman did her due diligence…supporting this daughter of mine…in joining our church…but it didn’t stop there…this mentor…so kind…so thoughtful…so generous…to this day…sends letters…cards…postcards…encouraging…supporting…just touching base…with her former charge…

And what are the odds…when grown up Ginger took her first job…moved to her new town…that this dear friend…just happened to live there too…now taking time to check up on that girl of mine…treating her to dinner…ice cream…stopping to visit her beloved kitty…

So maybe it isn’t wishes that are answered…but prayers…prayers of a mama…who wishes she could be…so many places…at one time…but is happy…and blessed…to be able to share those daughters of hers…with special people…who care…
