This old gal…
Is not blind to the fact…that there are are always two sides to a story…different views…different perspectives…so was eager to hear a version of that man I call dad…though the eyes of family…close to that mother of mine… A teen at the time…my dear relative remembers early 20s him to be kind…welcoming…but liked to argue…in the line of challenging others’ statements…she wasn’t sure if he was teasing or not…but it made her feel defensive… Have to say…young me didn’t really see that…in him…but funny thing…looking back…can remember many times when that father of mine would make a comment…and his mother…would question it…challenge it… One time…she pushed too far…can remember the conversation like it was yesterday…can’t remember the words…but the nagging…his quiet defensive responses…and then he’d had enough…and huffed…it was the first…and only time…little me…young me…old me…ever saw him visually upset… Not gonna say this trait surprises this old gal…it’s out there…floating around in that gene pool of ours…confidence…humility…conviction…open-mindedness…a balancing act… Life is like that…take the good with the bad…the pain with the joy…mold it through experiences and growth…ever evolving…ever changing…embracing…what makes you you…and using it…to be the best version…of yourself… And this husband of mine…agrees…
