This husband of mine…
Would find the last two Find a Grave blurbs interesting…one as far from a Hallmark movie as one could get…the other…a success story…overcomer…happy ending type… Those grandfathers of mine…brothers…one passing before little me was born…one taking on the role eight years later marrying his brother’s widow at the age of 62… Cy…Cyril Felix…farmer…father of that father of mine…suffered from depression…worried about money…was sure he had cancer but didn’t…ended his life tragically…his son finding him in the barn… George…step-grandpa…also great uncle…called him Unk…his blurb saying very little…farmed for his brothers…not previously married…but told a story once that went like this.. “Forty years old…woke up on a park bench hungover…had nothing to my name and thought I’m not going to drink today…have a little coin in my pocket… Did the same thing the next day…and the next…liked having the money…the control…and decided to stop drinking for good…” Twenty years later he’d marry Emily M and become the best grandpa three little tow heads could have ever wanted… Patient…kind…soft spoken and wise…gardened…played clarinet…adored his black lab named Liza… Cooked homemade wienies and kraut…made coffee on the stove top…laughed heartily with family and loved his beautiful bride…Emily M… No Find a Grave blurb…no anthology…no words…could do this man justice…he was unique…special…one of a kind… And those brothers of mine…would agree...
