Thanks For The Memories

​This old gal…

Has to marvel at the timing of the Facebook memories…it’s fun to look back and revisit a fun memory…or guffaw at the idiocy of a post…and be thankful no one else can see it now…but you…

Five years ago…this old gal was cleaning totes and came across a comp journal…of this daughter of mine…one entry highlighting…the pot pie disaster…

This old gal decided to make a pot pie…using Elvis Presley’s recipe…crust…gravy…potatoes…and The King apparently loved corn in his…so corn it was…

Not wanting to waste any corn…the whole can was added…because why not…who doesn’t love corn…but too much corn…in a pot pie…is not a good thing…it tasted like dirt…and the ratio of corn to other ingredients…was off…

These daughters of mine…have always been kind about their resident chef’s meals…complimenting them…thanking the chef for cooking…but not on pot pie disaster day…

We all kind of sat in silence…moving pot pie pieces around on the plate…when one very brave eater says…

I’m sorry…but I just can’t eat this…it tastes like butt…laughter ensued…pot pie ditched…Ramen made…
And to this day…this old gal still inevitably hears…Remember the time Mom made chicken butt pie…

Yes…yes she does…and these daughters of mine…agree…

PS…as this old gal is typing these words…a text pops up from a daughter of mine…celebrating the wonder of the pot pie…
