This old gal…

Felt like she was walking the plank heading into that cardiologist appointment…his words from last year lingering still…

You can try it…he said…but I don’t think it will work…then finished with…For some people when it comes to a heart attack…there is no warning…

Daunting for sure…but in spite of that little tidbit…non cardiologist me still decided to try the treatment plan SHE had suggested…

And now sitting in the exam room…the proverbial sharks circling…in walks the doctor who says Blimey! What have you been doing?…

Ok he didn’t say blimey but he was excited…because those numbers…the heart health numbers…were amazing…

Well Matey, says I, puffing out the chest a bit…Step One Foods…walked…ate fish, berries, nuts…cut out red meat…

He nodded and smiled…made plans for keepin’ on… and then that cardiologist of mine…sweet kind young thing that he is…surprised this old salt…

Instead of giving her the old Heave Ho out of the exam room…he walked her to the lobby…and wouldn’t you know…gave her a hug…

And so it is…we celebrate those specialists who listen…make us feel valued…and go the extra mile…all the way to the lobby…to show us they care…
