This old gal…
Created her own…personal…Bring Your Mom to School Day… Little Miss…first year FCS…and her students…welcomed retired teacher me with open arms…acting like…it’s perfectly normal…for a teacher’s mom…to come and hang out in junior high… For seven hours…mama me sat and watched…her classroom…her stage…as she demonstrated threading a needle…explained how to tie a knot…and reminded over and over…to make sure to tie the knot…as far away from the needle…as possible… Supervised five kitchens…as 7th graders…made homemade mac and cheese…and spaghetti…because it was noodle day… Taught four classes back to back with nary a potty break…had ten minutes for lunch because kitchen clean up…after noodle day…was a must… Complimented…validated…listened to…but made accountable…more than 140 kids…who came through her classroom…that day… Was worn out…at 3:30…and this old gal just watched…but she was proud…proud that teacher daughter used strategies that takes some ten years to figure out…proud that her students know she cares about them…proud that she’s using her gifts…to make a difference in this world… But mostly…just proud…to be her mama… We might need to make…Bring Your Mom to School Day…an annual event… And this daughter of mine…will most possibly…agree…
