This old gal…
Is an eavesdropper…not on purpose really…but in crowds or public places…other conversations leak into the old frequency… Sitting in a restaurant…chatting with this husband of mine…snippets from other tables intrude…oh they are with their grandkids…that woman just got out of the hospital…those two just got married…that lady loves the pickled ham too… This husband of mine…hears none of it…is aware of none of it…and marvels at the difference in our dining experiences… At a table nearby the catfish fest…sat elderly siblings…one had organized the get together…they laughed and talked and reminisced…what I miss most about Mom…says one gentleman on the end…is her apple pie…and her potato salad…no one makes potato salad…like she did… This old gal…has few regrets…besides laying out in the sun slathered in baby oil in the 70s…the other regret…is not ensuring yearly gatherings…with those brothers of mine…and their families… Once that mother of ours was gone…so went our family gatherings…this aunt missing out getting to know her niece and nephews and those daughters of mine…their relatives… Time flies…family is important…have no regrets…reach out… Maybe…it’s not too late… And this husband of mine…agrees…
