Let’s go to the zoo… And so we did…perfect weather…early in the season…almost had the place to ourselves… Strolled the paths…enjoyed the exhibits…rode the train around the park triggering memories of the past…zoo memories…St. Louis Zoo memories… Family trips to Cardinal baseball games…a trip to the zoo with that grandma of ours… Granddaughter me…along with her brothers…volunteering to help push Gram in a wheelchair so she didn’t miss the fun…assuming the zoo would be flat… But wheelchair pushing me was wrong…dead wrong…for that zoo was hilly…hills that seemed like mountains…and it was hot…gruelingly hot…and it was exhausting…the most exhausting zoo trip ever… But no one would have known…because wheelchair pushers us…laughed…joked…made light of it… And so it is…sometimes life throws you a curveball…and sometimes in life you just have to keep going…put one foot in front of the other and push on through… Because someone needs you…someone’s counting on you…someone loves you… And you love them… And those brothers of mine…would agree…
