Those daughters of mine…
Were little performers…sang at events…fund raisers…nursing homes and hospitals… Wasn’t a planned thing…started out innocently enough at a church talent show…throw on some costumes…sing a couple of Bible School songs… Kind of took off from there…it was fun…they had fun…then someone wanted to know their group name…didn’t have one… Decided on The Chicks…a sweet pet name of that mother of theirs…”Let’s go, chicks!”, “How are my chicks?”, “Mama sure loves her chicks”… Went a little further…added Pixie to the front…those girls of mine tiny little things…and just like that…the Pixie Chicks were born… And it was a hoot…kept us busy for years…the Chicks eventually morphing into a baton trio offering summer camps and twirling in competitions… Even put on a concert once…2 hours of songs and skits and guest performers…needed a logo and a friend created the cutest trio of baby birds ever to be seen… Loved that logo…simple, playful, fun…just like those little girls of mine… And now, so many years later, there it was…or more like there THEY were taking an old gal’s breath away…her life in a simple art piece…hanging there on the wall in a local doodad shop… The chicks…HER chicks…simple, playful, fun…all grown up… It was perfect…it was delightful…it was so very special… And those daughters of mine…would agree…
