Teacher me…
Started her career 40 years ago teaching Title I Reading at the Lutheran School in Old Town…hired by the public school but served the parochial due to funding protocols.. So not an official staff member…but for 36 years…teacher me and those daughters of mine…were treated like family…felt like family…knew we were LIS family… Made lots of friends…close friends…met up with one of the best at Olive Garden recently…thoughtful…wise…supported each other while our kids grew up… Tried to squeeze a year of not seeing each other into a couple of hours like dear friends do…got ready to pay…and was told someone had covered our bill… And instantly knew who it was…had run into several LIS parents walking in…knew them…knew their kids…was humbled by their kindness…their generosity…and vowed to pay it forward… Am a little ashamed to admit it tho…haven’t been one to pay it forward…or to treat the person behind…just never seemed the right time…the right opportunity… Until Subway…a cute little gal like those daughters of mine…ordered a foot long chicken teriyaki with cheddar cheese…the cashier confused ringing our orders up together… And then…it suddenly hit Subway eating me…this…was her pay it forward moment… And so it is…in life…pay it forward…a smile…a compliment…a foot long Subway sandwich…whatever it may be…make someone’s day a little bit brighter… You’ll be glad you did… And that friend of mine…would agree…
