Make Someone Smile

This old gal…

Loved going to the Post Office…in the Burg…always greeted as a friend…the cutest display of Hallmark cards calling from the lobby corner…the thrill of sending a package setting in…

Adorning boring brown boxes…with colorful duct tape…and cute address labels…is this old gal’s jam…started when those daughters of mine were in college…care packages sent decked out in brightly themed duct tape…glitter stickers…fun paper for the address…

Those college girls would say they always knew their package because of the garish decor…but it brought a smile…even before the gift was opened…

Went in one last time…to retrieve mail sent to Old Pink…and fill out a change of address form…when my Post friend realized the move was out of town…his comment was a surprise…

Oh no…he said…I’m going to miss your fun packages…I just loved your llama ones…with the llama tape…they were fun…and made me smile…

Of all the packages mailed each day…who knew…that whacky fun tape…the desire to make it fun for those daughters of mine…brought a smile to others…as well…

Thank you…my Post friends…for making me smile…making me feel noticed…for being my friend…maybe one day…a whacky taped package will come in the mail…for you…
