This old gal…
Had a fairly uneventful flight into DC…enjoyed the quiet…relaxed with a coffee and Biscotti…read a book…the skies were sunny and bright…beautiful clouds floated beyond the windows…arrival time set for 6:13… Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy…until 6:00…pilot comes on over the intercom…this is your pilot speaking…we are going to have a little delay in landing…there’s a really bad storm over the city…so we will just keep circling until things clear up… Oh…and don’t worry…we won’t run out of fuel…we have plenty in reserve… My seat friend and I looked at each other…and laughed…thanks Mr. Pilot…we weren’t worried…about running out of fuel…or had that thought even cross our minds…until you mentioned it… And then he says…oh…for those of you with connecting flights…don’t worry…no planes will be taking off…as the storm is quite fierce…but we should be landing here in a few minutes or so… Not so reassuring in that reassuring little message…but he was good to his word…had quite a bumpy ride through some dark skies…an hour of circling but apparently had enough fuel…to land us safe and sound… This old gal breathing a sigh of relief…that daughter of mine eagerly waiting at baggage claim… Fast forward seven days…this old gal tired but fulfilled…no tears…just one last hug…one last good-bye… Here’s to a safe flight home… And that husband of mine…agrees…
