This old gal…
Is a little draggy…have to say…getting up at 6…standing all day…and managing kids…knocks the zip…out of a 62 year old’s…zippety doo dah… But this time…beneath the exhaustion…lies relief…relief in knowing…that teacher me…hasn’t completely lost it…after all… This job…this third grade job…was in a different school…and it was run…like a well oiled machine…expectations set…expectations followed… Students…greeted by the principal…teacher me…welcomed by staff…safety protocols explained…the culture…one of kindness…and preparedness… And those age old strategies..that made teacher me…teacher me…kept students engaged…made students…smile… It felt…like coming home… So bravo…to those leaders…who inspire…motivate…appreciate…who have the ability to create a culture…free of chaos…where everyone feels safe… And old gal teachers…who fear they’ve lost their touch…can bring what they have left to the table…and still feel…a little bit accomplished… And this husband of mine…agrees…
