This husband of mine said…

Why do you think some people don’t like to be hugged?… some people…SOME people…air quotes…some people…

Knew what he meant…knew WHO he meant…but honestly thought it wasn’t obvious any more because one of us has come a long way in the world of hugging…

But apparently SOME people get tense…sometimes break out in a little sweat whence cometh the hug…

The sweaty thing…came the explanation…is old gal stuff…hot flash stuff…easily explained…the other…well to little me…the hug was used as a weapon…

That mother of mine…having a spell…wailing…rocking…eyes wild…spittle flying…would beg for a hug…

Little us would take turns…draw the lottery so to speak…for the hug wasn’t a hug…the hug was reach your little arms around her neck and then get grabbed and screamed in the face kind of thing…

So yea…hugs were hard…have always been hard…the mind may forget…the body does not…

But SOME of us is glad that husband of hers asked so that he knows it’s not about him…because in his world…his experience…a tense hug from a spouse can mean a whole different thing…

And so it is…in love and life…it’s all about communication…KISS…keep it simple sweetheart and just ask…if you wonder…ask…and if you find that the love of your life is scared of the hug…then keep it simple…and seal it with a kiss instead…
