It's Ok To Let It Go

​This old gal…

Is proud of herself…dragged what seemed like a gazillion garbage bags…to the corner today…filled to the brim…with last good-byes…

Was meticulous at first…with the sorting game…awwww…keep or not…then fatigue set in and the race began…nope…gone…good-bye…why do I have this…time to go…toss toss toss…

And what items…might you ask…left the arena…heads held low…

Those 1980 Christmas tree socks…handmade baby bibs…the newspaper lining a dresser drawer…from June 2000…tank tops from Justice this old gal has been wearing for 15 years…broken plastic trinket box circa 1981…baby’s first birthday candle…and the beloved Barbie sleeping bag…

The three day competition was fierce…competitors were neck to neck…but three favorites…found their way to the podium…

The bronze medal goes to the black iZod cardigan sweater…worn by that grandpa of mine…
Silver medalist is…heavy blue pitcher…my Mr. saved from the garbage somewhere…which initially annoyed yours truly because of its bulk…but now is recognized as vintage glass…and deemed a winner…

And topping the podium…proudly wearing that medal of gold…Chuck-E-Cheese tokens…dating back as far as 1995…found resting on the drawer supports…when drawers were removed for moving…we applaud these tokens…for their clever hiding place…keeping them from being tossed years ago…and for evoking those precious memories…of Chuck-E-Cheese…
