Focus On The Here And Now

That cactus baby of ours…

The one searched for in Texas…finally found at HEB…has been growing like crazy…got him a new pot…simple…ceramic…matches his coloring…

And that’s when those words of that brother of mine reared their ugly head…you may be book smart…he once told sister me…but you ain’t got no common sense…

And maybe this isn’t so much lack of common sense…but more like not looking ahead…not thinking ahead…to the fact that Cactus Dad had plans…

Carry Baby outside plans…set him in the sun plans…create a pretty little plant display plans…

But that pot is heavy…that cactus baby is heavy…too heavy now…for one…even two…to maneuver…

Ordered a carrying strap…didn’t work…Cactus Dad finagled some carrying contraption…it’s a sight to see…old folks bumbling…stumbling…it’s ridiculous…not sustainable…

And so it is…in life…those choices we make…focus on the here and now…but don’t forget to look ahead…cuz take it from not looking down the road me…hauling that prickly pear out for sun…

Can some days be a big heavy pain in the…uh…back…
