Was watching a morning show…one of the hosts…just turned 70…made a comment…about living longer…than his father…

An interesting thought…to be honest…having outlived that father of mine…by over 22 years…

Died at the age of 40…organ failure…due to alcoholism and untreated diabetes…didn’t really know him…wasn’t a weekend dad…more of a twice a year…kind of dad…

Have some memories…a few mementos…a ring…half dollars…and a letter…only one…apologizing for missing a play…10 year old me was in…

Always dreamed…what it would be like…to have a dad…a real dad…a take charge be a man kind of dad…and funny thing…50 years later…it’s there…

In this husband of mine…a husband for sure…but dad like…in certain things…old school dad like…that fills a void…old me…didn’t know was there…

And so it is…in life…don’t give up…searching for what you need…for when you find it…little by little…those hurts of the past…might just…heal themselves…
