This old gal…

Has the cutest cardiologist…not Channing Tatum hunka hunka cute…more like…third grade boy…pinch those squishy cheeks…got a twinkle in the eye…cute…had the stress test follow up…heart looks good…nicely healed scars from former heartbreaks…but other than that…it’s just that dang beast of high cholesterol…

Prescribed two meds…one works best with a statin but is not a statin…one is a bimonthly shot…that works wonders…which of course…was rejected by insurance…much like those pricy MS meds…the reasoning goes like this…we won’t approve medicine to lower your high cholesterol…to prevent a stroke or heart attack…until…you’ve had…a stroke or heart attack…or have really mucked up arteries…

So we made a plan…or more like patient me made a plan…and pinchy cheeks twinkle eyes listened…take the likely noneffective nonstatin…and start up Step One Foods again…can’t do anything else really anyway…while he keeps pestering the we-know-better-than-doctors insurance company…for medicine approval…

We agree to a follow up blood test…in three months…patient me curious to see if the combination of the two…along with increased effort to exercise and eat better…will be enough…he smiles…as he opens the door to leave…that twinkle in the eye…bright as day…I don’t think it will be enough…he says…but you never know…you just might…prove me wrong…

Challenge accepted…cutest cardiologist in the whole wide world…challenge…accepted…
