This husband of mine…
Chuckled at the shirt his bride was wearing…it reminds me of that commercial where the guy goes on that date with his collar all stretched out…he explains…these tops…bought many years ago…same kind…same brand…cuz when this old gal finds something she likes…she buys one in every color…have seen better days… She knew it…the necklines all saggy…those tiny holes showing up around the waistline…tetired me…didn’t care…what difference does it make…we have no commitments…don’t have to dress up…wear the big baggy saggy clothes…relax…be comfy…but embrace the fact…that deep down…that reflection…makes retired me…feel…like a frump… This man of mine…not realizing he’d opened Pandora’s Box…frumpy me…no longer content…headed to Target…coming home with two ribbed knit tops…soft…tight fitting…ridiculously slimming…sat down and ordered…6 more online…now the proud owner of a rainbow of ribbed knits… Frumpy me…no longer feeling frumpy…outfits more attractive…jewelry better accented…a wardrobe remade…all because of a set of 8 dollar tops… And so it is…that old retired body…here a wrinkle…there a wrinkle…some sags here…some blobs there…it surely is not what it used to be…but that doesn’t mean…it’s still not beautiful…that doesn’t mean…YOU…are still not beautiful… Beauty doesn’t disappear…it just shifts…a little bit… And this husband of mine…agrees…
