Little me…
Had a grandpa…the typical back in the day man of the house…don’t cross…be scared of a little…kind of grandpa… Owned a nursing home…lived next door…read us books…let us “help” him when he worked outside…and always brought a special gift for little me on her birthday… A little girl bauble…a special little girl bauble…a necklace…a bracelet…a ring…it made birthday girl me feel special…it made little girl me…feel loved… Seven years old…birthday party wrapping up…a sparkly green necklace in a box…that mother of mine bringing it home with… You know…she says…he’ll love you when your little…but when you get older…he’ll forget all about you and act like you don’t exist… Knew someone once who always said…there’s nothing so bad that my mother can’t make worse…but in reverse…in the case of growing up me…there was never anything good…that…well you get the picture… And honestly…never felt that way about that grandfather of mine…relationships are a two way street…he was there for us…he kept us safe… And if a picture could speak a thousand words…that snapshot…that birthday girl in the green dress…that hug… That’s the story…right there… And little me…would agree…
